PLANNING COMMISSIONER TRAINING
Expanded Opportunities | New this year
Can’t make the February 21st training? Don’t want to commit your entire Sunday? Want to spend more time digging into a topic and learning more from planning experts from across the state and beyond?
For the first time, this year’s Planning Commissioner training will be offered in two parts and available for purchase, viewing and participation after the conference.
Part 1: Just the Basics | Sunday, February 21, 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM
The first part of this invaluable training will focus on the statutory basis for planning in AK, basic roles and responsibilities of Planning Commissioners, types of meetings and decisions, effective planning, how to hold effective meetings, and the legal basis for planning and decision-making.
Part 2: The Deep Dive | Sunday, April 25, 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM
After direction from Part 1 participants, APA AK members, and AML members for Part 2, we will focus on parliamentary procedures, ex parte contact and disclosures, legal cases, and findings of fact. If you attended Part 1 on February 21st, you are automatically registered for Part 2.
Want to attend Part 2 on April 25th, but didn’t make Part 1?
You can still participate! Register and pay for full access to the recordings of Part I: Just the Basics and attend Part II: The Deep Dive. Register online here: http://bit.ly/registerPCTpart2
Already registered for the Planning Commissioner Training?
No problem! You will be automatically enrolled in Part 2!
OUR GOALS FOR THE NEW FORMAT:
Increase access to the training by building on the success and content of our traditional format and content.
Devote more time (a half day!) to examining a range of planning topics and examples from across the state.
Allow participants to steer the content covered in Part 2 for a curated Deeper Dive.
In this way, we hope to feature and learn from a more diverse group of Tribal, community, municipal, state, federal, and other Alaska planning partners.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SUPPORTING THE ALASKA APA IN HOSTING THE LARGEST SINGLE EVENT OF PLANNING, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, AND LEADERSHIP PROFESSIONALS IN THE STATE.
