The Alaska Chapter of the American Planning Association is a non-profit public interest and research organization dedicated to urban, suburban, regional and rural planning. The Alaska Chapter was established as a non-profit educational organization in 1980. The Chapter brings planning news and training to planners and Planning Commissions in Alaska and promotes intercommunication among planners in Alaska.

Our mission is to positively shape the planning profession as well as provide vision and leadership for the future development of Alaskan communities. The chapter will do this by:

  • Supporting education for professional and citizen planners

  • Facilitating networking opportunities

  • Promoting good, sound planning practice
